We've got Billy Joel tributes and monster trucks, Fawlty Towers dining disasters and fascinating WWII history, plus all your favourite weekly quiz nights and coffee mornings. Whether you're after culture at the EMC, comedy gold, sustainability shopping, or just fancy a proper good chinwag over coffee - this week's absolutely bursting with brilliant things to do. THURSDAY 18TH SEPTEMBER ποΈ
10am-10:30am & 11:30am-12pm - Starting us off bright and early, the little ones can get their wiggle on with Baby Rhyme Time at Harpenden Library - donations welcome and guaranteed giggles included! πΆπ
10am-11am - If you're dealing with family matters, pop along for Ask the Expert: Family Mediation at Red Gabes West Common. Jane Leadbeater will be dishing out wisdom on how mediation can help families navigate tricky waters - it's free for THC members or Β£25+VAT for non-members, plus you get lovely light refreshments! β
10:30am - Jazz lovers, this one's for you! The EMC brings us The Age of Jazz with Sandy Burnett courtesy of The Arts Society Harpenden Area. Sandy's going to take us on a musical journey through the early years of jazz right up to WWII - arrive from 10am for free tea, coffee and a good old chinwag! π·
2:15pm - For those with a taste for espionage stories, the U3a presents "Double Agent Zigzag" with Paul Barwick at their shiny new Abbeyfield Hall premises on Southdown Road. Perfect for anyone no longer in full-time employment who fancies some fascinating learning! π΅οΈ

SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER π
10am - For those craving serious adrenaline, the Monster Truck MotorFest kicks off at Hertfordshire Showground running until 8pm Sunday! We're talking tyre-shredding stunts, freestyle motocross, motorcycle displays, fairground rides, and a brilliant kids zone. It's going to be absolutely mental in the best possible way! ππ₯
10am πβ¨ Something truly special at Harpenden Library - it's Special Saturday Storytime with the absolutely brilliant Alice Hemming! This free session promises stories, craft activities, and colouring fun that'll have the little ones (and let's be honest, probably the grown-ups too!) completely captivated. πβ¨
12:30pm arrival - Get ready to tackle some seriously good food at Harpenden RFC's pre-match lunch! π For just Β£30 per person, you can fuel up before cheering on our brave lads as they take on Aylesbury. Nothing says "community spirit" like a proper feast before watching our team hopefully steamroll the opposition! π½οΈπͺThen rugby fans can cheer on Harpenden RFC as they take on Aylesbury - nothing beats a good local match! π

The brilliant WWII Exhibition continues FREE at Harpenden Museum until September 25th - open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Plus there's a fascinating new exhibition celebrating George Hogg, the Harpenden hero who saved 60 Chinese schoolboys by marching them 700 miles to safety. Absolutely incredible story that deserves to be better known! π
Here's something to get you thinking ahead to the festive season! πβοΈ Applications are now open to join the Harpenden Christmas Carnival Procession! This year's delightful theme is "A Harpenden Winter Wonderland" and they're looking for creative participants to make it absolutely magical.
